Very enjoyable book for learning about modern sociology and it still applies to modern times.
Directed by Andre Robert Lee. I used this book in a seminar on design theory and was intrigued by Du Bois' use of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze Negro Philadelphia at the turn of the last century.

Du Bois and the Birth of Modern Sociology The Philadelphia Negro was the first sociological study of black urban Americans ever conducted. I used this book in a seminar on design theory and was intrigued by Du Bois' use of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze Negro Philadelphia at the turn of the last century.
The study sought to illuminate ways in which philanthropy could help the people living in Philadelphia's Seventh Ward.
