Speculation over the reason for Gargano's absence can be put to rest after the host addressed the situation with listeners.97.5 The Fanatic, formerly owned by parent company Greater Media, was part of a portfolio of 17 stations sold last year to Beasley Media Group, which posted a 90 percent increase in year-over-year revenue since the acquisition, according to the company's fourth-quarter earnings statement. On a stand-alone basis, however, revenue from the former Greater Media stations declined by 6.1 percent, or about $2.3 million, during the same period.
We’d probably all agree that a good chunk of Sixers fans don’t watch the Flyers very often while a good chunk of Flyers fans probably don’t watch the Sixers very often. I just can’t stomach the slow grind of a baseball season, that doesn’t mean I root AGAINST the Phillies.‘there are a portion of Eagles and Phillies fans, for example, who still think soccer is “communist”’PS – Soccer can’t be a communist sport because it isn’t a real sport. It has literally been part of the brand since day one.
!The point of the Four for Four is that you don’t have two Philly teams and then branch out to another city. You’ll find various demographically-obvious extrapolations here. Most sticker collections on Philly cars look like… what? Earlier today, I offered a Twitter take in response to the topic of today’s midday show on 97.5 the Fanatic:"4 for 4" is actually one of the biggest crocks of shit currently running in this city.
You’ve got Union fans and college football and basketball fans and people in this city who watch Eddie Alvarez and Paul Felder fight. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started on the Union beat during the team's 2010 inaugural season. by
The Sixers fan base is a little younger and a little more diverse. Anytime you bring up radio, the site gets a ton of visits. PhillyVoice Staff by The Cuz is right. South Philly”, yet grew up in South Jersey, and whose claim to fame is writing a story for philly mag about a Gulf War vet with PTSD, that was totally fabricated.
If a team you loved totally trashed itself for half a decade by losing on purpose and trying to game the system only to be left with a crying, spotlight hogging mope who can’t stay healthy and a diva basketball player who for some reason cannot SHOOT A BASKETBALL and you wish them nothing but ill, fine. Morning show host Anthony Gargano returned to the 97.5 The Fanatic airwaves Monday after taking last week off … Can’t get enough of the Fusion…It’s really amazing how you took a simple premise “four for four” and totally tried to spin it and the cuz put you in your place! I’m sure you don’t listen though.
Yes, I’m one of the older fans (older years old) and loved that time with 4 for 4 teams at the top of their game.I really have zero interest in 7 foot tall guys dunking a basketball. The fact that it resulted in absolutely nothing doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. There’s sort of a natural divide there since the teams play at the same time, in the same building, and compete for the relatively small chunk of the Philadelphia media pie that’s already been devoured by the Eagles. That’s off base to me, a one-way street of linear thinking, because you’ll find that 95% of Union/Wings/MMA/Penn State fans also watch one or more of the “major” teams.Maybe we’re just splitting hairs here, or trying to find the thin line that differentiates between wanting a team to do well, versus truly showing tangible support for that franchise.Anyway, Anthony wanted to talk about it, so we had a short conversation this afternoon, which you can listen to here:What is a more modern way to say “four for four?” How would you update the term to apply to what Anthony is really focused on, which is a good-faith show of support for all Philadelphia-area sports teams?you sure do rely heavily on sports talk radio a lot for content.
in the wake of colleague Maureen Williams' dismissal from the station. I will watch the Eagles and Flyers when I can – although for a long time, prior to this year, the Flyers have been almost as unwatchable as the Sixers, but the seem to have pulled things together now.
