Ok, I have been holding out on making this post because I don't have all of the accurate history of what really happened.

Pegasus is named after an aircraft, a US Navy Lockheed C-121J Super Constellation (Registration 131644 C/N 4145) that crashed-landed on a Sea Ice Runway near McMurdo Station on October 8, 1970.
