Except when I say it was colorful, it was a million different shades of black, brown, and grey - kind of like a dirty, stained quilt. There is the added bonus that it is set in Dublin so will be of interest to people who know the city. But it is no everyday detective story - Kerrigan writes on the level of literary fiction. Into their lives come Frankie Crowe, an ambitious criminal tired of risking his life for small change. A "little" criminal with a small mind and grand ideas, he is also among the most dangerous of criminals, a young man who is totally self-centered.

She is raised by her father who was very young when she was born, and after the loss of her mother becomes a heroin junky to get by. And I am glad I did: it is excellent.
