From there perspective wood will last much longer since whenever the hold seems overly covered in rubber you can just hit it with some 100g sandpaper to refresh it. If my goals were on the boulders, this would be a perfect tool for that. I think once released it's going to be an awesome system as the Tension holds are just so much better than moon holds. I would simply do a short warm up boulder ladder, making sure I did mirrored movements focusing on weakness and after I would start hanging. I'd put money on this being a better designed tool than the moonboard, but the cost is prohibitive.Just an update, Tension has released separate hold sets and also has an App and a LED package in the works. Before they start working on anything else they want to get the app working for android first. It makes it quick and easy to climb through several different problems fast without cooling down at all between them.

I find them most useful when doing volume workouts and warming up. At 40 degrees with wooden holds and bouldering in the V6-V8 range it felt quite injurious with the slippery foot and handholds.

Initially I thought the TB had too many pinches and was kinda disappointed about that but the large pinches in particular were amazing for training the tufa crushing power needed for The Homestead in AZ. These holds are unapologetically designed with training in mind so don’t expect goofy shapes or unquie designs. All of our hangboard are made from solid pieces of poplar wood for a consistent, durable, and comfortable training experience. Or even skip the footholds and use some other types like teknik screw on chips, which I have on my 20*, they would make all problems a notch harder too. Otherwise the TB functioned exactly as I wanted it to. Like I mentioned, I don’t really love the finger buckets (except the small one, it’s awesome) so maybe a reshape of those and adding some pocket holds if I’m really critical, but I don’t need them.
