This is my truth. We can feel exposed, at risk, and uncertain in the midst of emotion. Choosing to write our own story means getting uncomfortable; itâs choosing courage over comfort.
What do you know for sure? It changes us and it changes the people around us.ââA small, quiet, grassroots movement that starts with each of us saying, âMy story matters because I matter.â A movement where we can take to the streets with our messy, imperfect, wild, [â¦] wonderful, heartbreaking, grace-filled, and joyful lives. For every emotion we feel, there is a response. Either way, take a few minutes to write in a sentence or two (or more) to describe an experience that relates to each âact.ââThe Latin root of the word integrate is integrare, which means âto make whole.â Integrating is the engine that moves us through the reckoning, the rumble, and the revolution, and the goal of each of these processes is to make ourselves whole.
However, what our brain does not take into consideration is the need for discomfort and vulnerability in relationships. So, how do we know the story we are telling ourselves is what actually happened? When we deny our stories and disengage from tough emotions, they donât go away; instead, they own us, they define us.
